背景
塩化カリウムの顆粒は未処置のまま放置しておくと凝結を起こしやすく、また互いの磨耗で粉末ができます。この問題を軽減するために粉末化防止剤（anti-dusting additive）及び固化防止剤（anti-caking additive）が使われています。大手肥料メーカーとしてICLは特に粉末化を防ぐことに主眼をおいて、これらの添加剤を改良したいと模索しています。標準的な塩化カリウム（KCL）顆粒の直径は1.4～4.5mmです。粒子は球形または擬球形です。粉末化防止剤は既存の装置を使ってスプレーして添加したいと考えています。環境への影響も配慮し、添加剤は生分解性である必要があります。

Dry abrasion reduction in potash granules

ICL Innovation, a technology incubator for the ICL group, is seeking an additive to reduce dry abrasion in partially/wholly spherical potash granules.

Background
Potash granules, when left untreated, might undergo a caking process as well as produce dust from inter-granules abrasion. To mitigate these problems anti-dusting and anti-caking additives are used. As a leading fertilizer manufacturer ICL seeks to improve these additives, focusing on preventing dust from abrasion. Standard potash (KCl) granules are 1.4-4.5mm in diameter. These can either be spherical or pseudo-spherical. Application of the anti-dusting agent should be through spraying, without changing the existing equipment. Attention is given to environmetal concerns, necessitating the additive to be biodegradable.
